The NFL continues this weekend and here is a look at five games fans should keep an eye on.
Cleveland Browns VS. Miami Dolphins
The Cleveland Browns are third in the AFC North Division in the American Football Conference. They currently have a 4-6 record (4 wins, 6 losses). Their last win against Pittsburgh Steelers (19-16) extended their winning run to 2 games. The other win came against Buffalo Bills (19-16).
Defensive end Myles Garrett’s indefinite suspension for hitting Steelers Quarterback Mason Rudolph in the Steelers game with Rudolph’s own helmet has been upheld this week. He is likely to miss up to 6 games this season. He is out as he begins his suspension this weekend. Other absentees for the Browns this weekend are Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham Jr., Joe Schobert, Olivier Vernon, and Joel Bitonio, who are all questionable with injuries for the upcoming game.
Quarterback Baker Mayfield has the highest Passing yards (2,394) in the team whilst Nick Chubb also tops the leaderboard for the most Rushing yards (1,011). A third win could be on the cards, especially with the game being at home.
The Miami Dolphins are also 4th in the AFC East Division with a 2-8 (2 wins, 8 losses) record this season. Their 37-20 defeat to the Buffalo Bills last weekend ended a 2-game winning run. They will be looking to get back to winning ways. They could, however, be without Ken Webster, who is questionable for this game with injury.
Prediction: Browns to win
Washington Redskins VS. Detroit Lions
The Redskins are winless in their last 4 games since beating Miami Dolphins 17-16. Their latest loss came in last weekend’s 34-17 to the New York Jets. The defeat to the Jets took their record for this season to 1-9 (1 win, 9 losses) and placed them 4th in the NFC East Division. The Redskins go into this game with injury concerns as Vernon Davis, Chris Thompson, Jonathan Allen, Adrian Peterson, and Daron Payne all questionable for the game on Sunday. This game is a must-win game for them to turn their season around.
The Lions also have a 3-6-1 (3 wins, 6 losses, and 1 draw) record this season, which puts them 4th in the NFC North Division. They also lost 35-27 to the Dallas Cowboys last weekend. That loss was their third defeat in a row since beating the New York Giants 31-26. A win will do them a lot of good at the moment. They will, however, be without Matthew Stafford, who is out injured and will miss a third consecutive game. Tracy Walker, Trey Flowers, C.J. Moore, Sam Martin, Rick Wagner, and Da’Shawn Hand are all questionable for the game.
Prediction: Lions to win
New York Jets VS. Oakland Raiders
The Jets go into the weekend looking for a third straight win after recent victories against the Giants (34-27) and the Washington Redskins (34-17). Their record this season now stands at 3-7 (3 wins, 7 defeats). They are also third in the AFC East Division ahead of this game. They will be counting on Sam Darnold, who has recorded the highest passing yards in 6 consecutive games for the team. The only major injury doubts for the Jets are Demaryius Thomas and Darryl Roberts, who are both questionable for this game.
The Raiders are in decent form currently as they visit the Jets looking to extend their current winning run to 4 games after beating the Cincinnati Bengals 17-10 last weekend. Their recent winning run extended their record to 6-4 (6 wins, 4 losses). They will, however, be wary ahead of this game as they are currently winless on the road in their last 2 away games. Derek Carr, who has recorded the highest Passing Yards in the team this season could be instrumental in ending this poor away run. They could be without Rushing Yards leader, Josh Jacobs who is a doubt for this game with injury. Lamarcus Joyner, Rodney Hudson, Trent Brown, and David are also all questionable for this game.
Prediction: Jets to win
Chicago Bears VS. New York Giants
The Bears are 3rd in the NFC North Division with a 4-6 record. They lost 17-7 at Los Angeles Rams last weekend after beating the Detroit Lions 20-13 the previous week. Last weekend’s loss meant they have now lost 5 of their last 6 games (24-21 versus Oakland, 36-25 versus New Orleans, 17-16 versus Los Angeles Chargers and 22-14 at Philadelphia Eagles). Their woes have also been compounded with the injuries to Danny Trevathan, Adam Shaheen, and Isaiah Irving who are all doubts for this game with injury.
The Giants are also third in the NFC East Division with a 2-8 record and are currently winless in their last 6 games. The recent defeat came last weekend in a 34-27 loss at New York Jets. They are actually without a win since 29th September. They will, however, be without Sterling Shepard, Rhett Ellison, and Evan Engram for this game.
Prediction: Bears to win
New England Patriots VS. Dallas Cowboys
This encounter sees the leaders of the AFC and NFC East face off this weekend with the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the Patriots taking on the Dallas Cowboys.
The Patriots won 17-10 against Philadelphia Eagles last weekend to return to winning ways after losing their first game in over a year to Baltimore Ravens (37-20) in their previous game before last weekend. They currently have a 9-1 record, which sees puts them top of the table. A second straight win is highly likely in this encounter. They could, however, be without Julian Edelman, Phillip Dorsett II, and Mohamed Sanu Sr., who are all questionable with injuries.
Dallas Cowboys are also top of the NFC East Division with a 6-4 record after beating the Detroit Lions 35-27 last weekend. Leighton Vander Esch is out of the game with a neck injury with Connor Williams, also doubtful; for the upcoming encounter.
Prediction: Patriots to win
