Week 2 NHL Predictions

today match predictions

New York Rangers VS. New Jersey Devils

The New York Rangers will host the New Jersey Devils at home for the third encounter between both sides this season, with each team going into this match with a win apiece against each other. Both games took place at the home of New Jersey Devils. The Devils won 5-2 in the first game with New York Rangers claiming an impressive 4-0 win in their second game.

The New York Rangers were 5-3 winners over Colorado Avalanche in their last game. The win was their first victory in their previous four matches. They had lost three consecutive games earlier. The recent success leaves them 7th and 12th in the Metropolitan Division and Eastern Conference respectively, with 44 points and a win-loss-overtime loss record of 20-18-4. Their home record also stands at 11-8-2. They will undoubtedly be looking for a clean sweep over the Devils.

The Devils are also struggling at the moment. They were the losing team in their last two games (both home games) against Colorado Avalanche (5-2) and New York Islanders (4-3 OT). Recent losses have seen them slump to 8th in the Metropolitan Division and 14th in the Eastern Conference with 37 points and a W-L-OTL record of 15-20-7. Their away form is not impressive, though, as they currently have a 9-11-0 record on the road. They will have to improve if they are to get a positive result from this tricky encounter.

Prediction: Rangers VS. Devils- 5-0

Montreal Canadiens VS. Edmonton Oilers

The Canadiens will clash with the Oilers for the second time this season looking to avenge the 4-3 defeat the Oilers handed them in their first encounter. It will be make or break for both sides.

The Canadiens are currently 6th and 13th in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference respectively, with 43 points and a win-loss-overtime loss record of 18-19-7. They are currently in terrible form at the moment. They lost their previous game 4-3 at Detroit Red Wings. The loss was their 7th consecutive defeat since they beat the Winnipeg Jets during the Christmas period. They also have an awful 8-10-4 home record going into this game.

The Oilers, on the other hand, are in decent form going into this game. They won 6-4 at Toronto Maple Leafs in their last match to clinch a second consecutive win. The win sees them occupy 3rd in the Pacific Division and 6th in the Western Conference with 51 points and a win-loss-overtime loss record of 23-17-5. They also have a good away record with 13 wins from 24 games on the road. They are certainly favorites to win this game.

Prediction: Canadiens VS. Oilers- 2-9

Tampa Bay Lightning VS. Arizona Coyotes

The Lightning and the Coyotes lock horns for the first time this season, with both sides looking to secure bragging rights.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are in excellent form at the moment and were victorious over the Vancouver Canucks 9-2 in their recent game. They will be looking to snatch a ninth straight win. They are currently 2nd and 5th in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference respectively, with 54 points and a win-loss-overtime loss record of 25-13-4. Their 13-7-2 home record this season makes them a difficult opponent at home, and the Arizona Coyotes must be wary of that.

The Coyotes are also in great form and go into this game looking to secure a fifth consecutive win after winning 5-2 at Florida Panthers in their recent match. The recent string of victories has propelled them to the top of the Pacific Division and third in the Western Conference with 54 points and a win-loss-overtime loss record of 25-16-4. They also have a good away record of 14-6-3 and will confident of getting an all-important win against a difficult opponent.

Prediction: Lightning VS. Coyotes- 7-3

Florida Panthers VS. Vancouver Canucks

The Panthers welcome the Canucks for their second meeting this season. The Canucks won 7-2 in the first game.

The Panthers have been inconsistent in recent weeks. They lost 5-2 against Arizona Coyotes in their recent game. The defeat was their third loss in their last five games. As a result, they are now 4th and 10th in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference respectively, with 49 points and a win-loss-overtime loss record of 22-16-5.

The Canucks saw their 7-game winning run come to an end after they lost 9-2 at Tampa Bay Lightning recently. Their away record now stands at 9-11-1. They are also 5th and 9th in the Pacific Division and Western Conference respectively with 50 points and a win-loss-overtime loss record of 23-16-4. Only a win can get them back on track.

Prediction: Panthers VS. Canucks- 1-5

St. Louis Blues VS. Buffalo Sabres

The Blues will host the Sabres as these two teams clash with each other for the second time this season. The Blues lost the first game 5-2 at the home of the Sabres.

The Blues claimed a 3-2 win over San Jose Sharks in their recent game. The win ended a 3-game winless run. Their win-loss-overtime loss record now stands at 27-10-7. They are currently top of both the Pacific Division and Western Conference with 61 points. They also have an excellent home record of 14-4-3 and will be looking to maintain that and grab successive victories.

The Sabres look to have turned a tide recently. The Sabres defeated Florida Panthers 3-2 in their recent game to record a second straight win since losing four games in a row. They head into this game in 5th place in the Atlantic Division and 11th in the Eastern Conference with 45 points. They also have a win-loss-overtime loss record of 19-17-7.

Prediction: Blues VS. Sabres- 4-2
