Cyrus Pattinson vs Chris Jenkins Fight Preview
This Saturday evening, the first NXT event of the year will take place at the Newcastle Arena. Cyrus Pattinson will be competing against Chris Jenkins, a former British and Commonwealth champion, in an attempt to win the vacated WBA International welterweight championship. The fight is scheduled to take place over ten rounds.
Pattinson is a talented southpaw who competed in the amateur circuit for a number of years and won a number of titles before getting professional in 2021. The Newcastle fighter makes a daring move up in weight class in order to compete with Jenkins, but he wholeheartedly supports the fast-track strategy employed by his promoter.
Jenkins has been a professional for the past 11 years and has competed against some of the most accomplished fighters on the regional stage in the United Kingdom. “Rok-n-Rolla,” a Welshman who is 34 years old and goes by the arena name “Rok-n-Rolla,” is striving to get back into the running for the championship and is positive that he can pull off the upset.
Cyrus Pattinson, a contender from Northumberland who is 28 years old and has a perfect record of 5-0 with three knockouts, will be headlining for the first time in his career. Pattinson will be facing Chris Jenkins, a Welshman who is a former British and Commonwealth welterweight champion. Jenkins has a great deal more experience than Pattinson. (23-6-3, 8 KOs).

This Saturday, March 18, at the 10,000-capacity Utilita Arena in Newcastle, the main event of Matchroom Boxing’s “Next Gen” show will be Pattinson vs. Jenkins. It has been almost two years since the last time the promotion held an event in the Northeast, and a market that was once an essential component of the calendar is now back in the planning stage.
To ensure that Newcastle is a frequent fixture on the calendar in the years to come, the team will need to rack up some impressive victories and achievements, as well as draw a large crowd. There are some promising up-and-coming fighters on this bill, and MR/DAZN will be hoping that each time they come back to the Northeast, both the battles and the audience can get larger with each passing event. After all, the Northeast has established itself as a “fight city.”
Jenkins is coming off of a unanimous defeat by Tyrone McKenna, who was a candidate for the MTK Golden Contract back in August. Despite being on a downward trend, Jenkins represents a significant step up in levels for Pattinson, and a victory here for the former member of Team GB could expedite his path to a chance at the British championship.
In his most recent fight, Pattinson won the IBO Continental title by decisively dominating and knocking out Jorick Luisetto (12-4). The fight took place over the course of six rounds. In the latter part of 2021, Luisetto was defeated by Florian Marku in a judgment decided by points 78–75. The undefeated southpaw has flown a little under the radar so far, but this is the opportunity for him to receive a significant boost in media attention and public interest, similar to what we saw with Diego Pacheco’s debut in the UK last week.
