Los Angeles Clippers’ guard Lou William, after taking some food at a strip club in Atlanta, the NBA ruled by the Athletic’s Shams Charania, that the quarantine would be required for 10 days within the Bubble of Orlando. Williams had since returned into the Orlando area, and on Saturday, he had ended quarantine. The first two seed games of the Clippers will be postponed because of quarantine, and up to $150,000 will be forfeited per ESPN Bobby Marks. The Clippers resumed their season on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Williams left for a brief period at a funeral earlier this week, but photos of him have emerged on social media in a gentlemen’s club in Atlanta.
On Thursday, the 15-year-old vet entered the bubble to take a look at his grandfather, Paul G. Williams. It should have finished at around 6 p.m., And he was seen at Magic City, a strip club in Atlanta, in Instagram stories later on.
Late Thursday night, Jack Harlow and Williams shared a picture of themselves, showing them hanging out. Harlow deleted the post immediately, though not until it was spread widely.
So Harlow was able to shield their paths. He wrote on Twitter: “That’s an old picture of Lou and me.” He also immediately erased the Tweet. “I was just reminiscing cuz I miss him.” Despite facts against him, Williams told NBA police, according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, that he was only attending Magic City gentlemen’s club on Thursday night. He says, though, that he only had dinner there.
Players that quit the area, as Williams did, on their return to Disney, will have to quarantine for at least four days.
Nonetheless, this is the required period, which allows adverse samples of COVID-19 to be sent regularly that are not performed in high-risk settings.
Williams said the clippers were rightly angry, and head coach Doc Rivers said he “didn’t enjoy” seeing it on Saturday.
“I can’t share much with his journey. I wasn’t on that journey with him,” Rivers said before the Clippers’ scrimmage Saturday. “But he’s back here, I can tell you that much. You know those [pictures] got out, and that’s something that we didn’t enjoy seeing or like.”
Unless the re-quarantine period of Williams is extended, at least the team’s first match back against Los Angeles Lakers on July 30 will potentially fail.
The blubber-like NBA has been good so far, but it just takes one person to mess up for the COVID-19 like Williams to disperse, make a lot of people sick and maybe even close the whole operation down.
That is why in its investigation of the game, it was so vigilant, so it is also no shock to see that Williams had a lengthy 10-day quarantine. Yeah, for him and the Clippers, this is painful, but when you deal with a lethal infection, it’s safer best to be careful best sorry.
Two of the eight regular-season games which start next week will take him by the wall. Unless the player fails to check the coronavirus negatives every day while overseas, he will only be quarantined for four days, given he is regularly excused for absence.
Had he done so for the opening game of the Clippers versus Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday? Instead, he’s going to skip the Game and the New Orleans Pelicans Saturday series.
Coach Doc Rivers told reporters Williams had returned to the campus on Saturday, and that will presumably end his four-year absence on Aug. 3 and return to the Phoenix Suns for the Aug. 4 game.
Bobby Marks of the ESPN announced before the suspension that Williams would also lose up to $150,000 in salary.
The Clippers (44-20) of most players on excused absenteeism is in the cloud.
Williams, 33, is averaging 18.7 points and 5.7 assists per game off the bench for the second-place Western Conference team.
In addition to Williams, the three are either abroad or quarantined, Montrezl Harrell, Patrick Beverley, Landry Shamet, and Ivica Zubac. Either beginner or main reserve player is all five players.
Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes announced that Zubac returned to the bubble on Friday and had a quarantine lasting two days. Shamet is still on the way.
