Super Bowl LIV – History In The Making

After a 100 seasons in American football history, all eyes will turn be on two teams on the  2nd February 2020 for the 54th edition of the super bowl at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. For eagerly keen admirers of this game this would be an instant classic and a battle of the ages to begin this decade with. The San Francisco 49ers will lock horns with the Kansas Chiefs on that faithful to determine which football team is the best in the division. This is the first these two teams are meeting in the super bowl and it is also the first time that the two teams have their home jerseys to be red in the super bowl. That has been sorted out though and the Kansas City Chiefs will be wearing their traditional red jerseys with white pants and the 49ers will be wearing their white jerseys with gold pants. The defending champions and six-time super bowl winners, The New England Patriots led by arguably the greatest quarterback of all time could not advance through the first round hence paving the way for new challenges and we obviously are going to crown new champions. The San Francisco 49ers will be looking to enter the six rings clubs when they beat the Chiefs. Only two teams in NFL history have more rings than them and they are the Pittsburgh Steelers and the reigning champions the New England Patriots.

The Kansas City Is Heading Into A Battle

The Kansas City Chiefs are heading into the game as slight favorites because of one man who can change the tide of how a football is being thrown. Patrick Mahomes is the name and believes me when I say you should look out for this guy during the showdown. Entering into Sunday’s final Mahomes will be the fifth youngest to start in a super bowl when he plays against the 49ers. He wears the number 15 so in case you don’t know who he is you can keep your eyes glued to your broadcast to watch his ball. The 10th pick out of Texas Tech in the 2017 NFL draft and 2018 league MVP after throwing 50 touchdowns in that year is the reason the Chiefs are enjoying the fruits of their labor after a 50-year long wait to get to the super bowl after their one and only appearance since 1970 where they beat the Minnesota Vikings for their only triumph in the super bowl. Mahomes had a knee injury and after missing two games in the fall came back as stronger as he could to guide his team to the super bowl. They however didn’t have an easy path as compared to San Francisco as they had to overcome a 24 point deficit to win one of their playoff games against the Houston Texans and had to come back again to beat the Tennessee Titans in the AFC championship game 35-24 to win. Their head coach Andy Reid is the 24th coach in NFL history to appear in more than one super bowl and apparently his last appearance ended in a defeat against Tom Brady’s New England patriots in 2004. He has done a tremendous job with this Kansas City Chiefs team and he would be looking forward to winning his first ring in what seems to be an eternity for him. He has arguably transformed this team into title contenders. With their 14-4 record this year they clinched the AFC West title and he has qualified the Chiefs into the playoffs for six in his seven seasons as head coach. That is quite an undeniable achievement. Andy Reid is undoubtedly being cheered by most fans as he’s seen as one of the best coaches in the league without a ring and winning on Sunday would be a great moment for him. The Chiefs are particularly noted for their offense which is led by Patrick Mahomes. Although their regular season numbers weren’t that impressive they managed to eclipse the 35 point mark in both of their playoff games and this shows how good they’ve progressed.

San Francisco Is Ready To Regain Glory

The San Francisco 49ers led by head coach Kyle Shanahan are super bowl franchise juggernauts. This would be their seventh super bowl appearance. They appeared in the super bowl on five occasions between the years 1981 and 1994 and they won all five of them and this should tell you how good they are in the finals. Their last appearance was in 2013 where they lost to the Baltimore Ravens and that handed them their first loss in the super bowl in their franchise history. They hardly lose finals and the Chiefs have been there once and done it hence making their matchup interesting. Although this is coach Shanahan’s debut, he will be looking forward to being making an immediate impact and announce his presence to the league. Their record is heading into the showdown 15-3 which helped them ease into the playoffs and routed Aaron Rodgers’ Green Bay Packers in the NFC championship. That was the second time this year that they had done that. Their leading quarterback is Jimmy Garoppolo who was a backup to Tom Brady of the Patriots and he already has two rings. The apprentice now has the stage to showcase what he is made of. His career has not been music to the ears but he has managed to fight his way to the apex of leading quarterbacks this year. This is his actual full season as a starting quarterback since he was traded by the Patriots to the 49ers. He missed all but three games in 2018 due to a torn ACL. He has had his fair share of criticism but he has put in big play performances to get his team to this stage. The 49ers have their foundation based on an elite defense. They ranked second in the regular season and first in the playoffs. They also had the second most rushed this year. Their defense is led by a rookie. Nick Bosa has been vital to this defense and had nine sacks in the regular season with an additional three in the playoffs. Although the 49ers are nothing like the chiefs they would be a real problem in the super bowl. Two different styles of plays as the attack of the Chiefs looks to expose the defense of the 49ers and vice versa.

Officiating Will Be Key To A Entertaining Game

The referee in charge of this game will be Bill Vinovich who is an experienced official. He has officiated both teams over the years and their records with him in the middle of the park are quite good with the Chiefs having a 10-6 record and the 49ers have a 6-6 record. The half time show will be performed by two of the most beautiful ladies in the entertainment industry. I am a fan of neither but I appreciate good music. Shakira and Jennifer Lopez are tasked to keep the fans salivating after the first half of what will be a classic encounter. Demi Lovato will be singing the national anthem before the game. This is going to be an epic game as the Chiefs would be looking to end their drought and the 49ers would want to enter the exclusive six rings club and quarterback Jimmy proving to Mahomes that he learned well from the greatest quarterback of all time. Tickets are on a high sale right now as nobody wants to miss this game. May the best team win.
