Chelsea F.C. hunt for a new goalkeeper

Next summer Chelsea, according to SkySports, will be seeking to sign a goalkeeper as Frank Lampard is not convinced that Kepa Arrizabalaga will have a future as his Stamford Bridge long-term No 1.

Many clubs in Spain showed interest in signing Arrizabalaga, but Chelsea would prefer to reclaim as much as possible of the £71 million world record they owe him two years earlier.

Transfer Price for Kepa?

Chelsea would be tempted, according to sources, by proposals above 50 million pounds for the Kepa Arrizabalaga Stamford Bridge exit.

The Spaniard fell in the Blues’ 2-0 win over Wolves for Willy Caballero on Sunday, during which Frank Lampard secured football in the Champions League for the next season. Last season, Kepa was blamed for many high-profile mistakes and subsequently failed to carry on Chelsea’s £71.6 million fees for hiring him from Athletic Bilbao in 2018.

Possible Options

If a permanent contract is unlikely with a prospective provider, Lampard will be able to weigh up his options utilizing a long-term loan arrangement.

The English manager will be proposing a list of Kepa’s potential replacements, which includes Ajax’s Andre Onana and Burnley’s Nick Pope, who narrowly lost to Manchester City’s Ederson on the Golden Glove Premier League trophy. Atletico Madrid said Oblak is not available, and Chelsea will have to pay for his release clause of £110 m to get him. Chelsea have also been linked to Manchester United’s goalkeeper who is on loan at Sheffield United. It is unclear what his future will be and the blues might take advantage of this situation to make an offer for the young English goalkeeper. The cheapest alternative will be Onana. He wants to move to the Premier League, and Ajax is going to be listening. In the Premier League this season, Pope established himself as one of the best goalkeepers with 15 clean sheets at Burnley. Lampard is expected to kick off Willy Caballero for the final of the Saturday FA Cup against Arsenal, replacing Arrizabalaga with Wolves for the decisive final match of the season. This season, Caballero has ended all of Chelsea’s FA Cup games save for a 2-0 victory in March over Liverpool.

‘I don’t want to jump forward beyond the Arsenal game next week. It would be wrong,’ he said. ‘The squad is really strong at the moment as a unit, how they are on and off the pitch. I want that to stay for at least one more week domestically, then Bayern Munich. Looking to next season after that.’ He said.

Chelsea gave away 54 Premier League goals this season, in the top half of the table, more than any other side.

The Blues have already acquired Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech on a fee of GBP 33.3 million and paid RB Salzburg £45 million to purchase striker Timo Werner for next year’s transfer preparation. They also follow highly regarded midfielder for Bayer Leverkusen Kai Havertz, who is keen to join Chelsea after his impressive performances in the Bundesliga this season playing 30 matches and scoring 12 goals. Havertz is valued at £90 million by Bayer Leverkusen, but every party is hopeful of having a £70 million deal, plus add-ons. Not withstanding the interest displayed by many other Premier League teams, including Arsenal and Manchester United, Brazilian winger Willian is set to extend his deal at Chelsea next week. When the Chelsea contract ends at the end of the season, Pedro joins in a two-year agreement with Roma. He won almost everything with the club. Many players from Chelsea, among them Jorginho, Emerson, Marcos Alonso, Davide Zappacosta, Michy Batshuayi, and Tiemoue Bakayoko, have concerns about their future. Jamie Carragher from Sky Sports suggests that if they want to fulfill their goals, Chelsea wants investment in the goalkeeping department. Carragher said that Chelsea would not go any further during the 5-3 defeat to Liverpool unless they change the goalkeeper.

“I know they keep buying a lot of attackers, but you see how many goals they have conceded. I think a lot of that is down to the goalkeeper if I am sincere.

“It is an area that – if they want to compete with Liverpool and Manchester City – they will have to rectify in the summer.”

The summer shuttle window will take place ten weeks from July 27th and closes on October 5th at 11 pm. The domestic window will run from October 5th to Friday, October 16th, at 5 pm for trade between Premier League and EFL.
