ROH Supercard of Honor 2023 Match Preview:
Supercard of Honor 2023 marks the return of Ring of Honor to pay-per-view for the first time in 2023. Claudio Castagnoli will defend his ROH World Championship against Eddie Kingston in the main event. The first-ever “Reach for the Sky” Ladder battle for the vacant ROH World Tag Team Championship will also take place. As ROH seeks to make a splash during WrestleMania weekend, the card is loaded with star power. The card will be broadcast on FITE TV at 4 p.m. Pacific time on Friday, March 31st. Let’s go over the deck.
Ring of Honor Supercard is intended to be a one-of-a-kind showcase for ROH under Tony Khan’s management.
Ring of Honor’s largest pay-per-view of the year takes place before WrestleMania weekend. The Supercard of Honor is loaded, with at least one fight of the weekend, if not a match-of-the-year contender.
Several weeks into the “new era,” ROH has been on a rampage in preparation for its first pay-per-view of the year. Every match mentioned is for a championship.
Tony Khan unexpectedly declared this match. The matchup for GCW’s Atlanta show next month has already been revealed, though not for the title.
Komander made his AEW début in the “Face of the Revolution” Ladder Match a few weeks ago. After just one match, he must have left an impression to earn a title shot on an ROH pay-per-view. Vikingo had a five-star battle (on free television) against Kenny Omega.
Omega was the AAA Mega Champion until 2021 when he vacated the championship due to the need for surgery. Vikingo took over the vacant title in 2022 and has kept it since. This could very well be the game of the weekend.
The Embassy defeated Dalton Castle and The Boys for the 6-Man Tag Team Championship at ROH’s most recent pay-per-view, Final Battle. They’ve protected it a few times since then.
Blake Christian and Metalik recently joined ROH and chose to compete for the 6-Man titles. They enlisted AR Fox’s help and soon grew into a formidable team.
Brian Cage has been linked to WWE, and depending on what occurs on Friday, we may have an answer.
For nearly a year, Samoa Joe has held the ROH Television Championship. Last April, he beat Minor Suzuki. He’s also held the TNT Championship in the last year and called himself “The King of Television.”
Briscoe appeared in the first battle of ROH’s “new era” in the first episode. He responded to Joe’s open offer for the title the following week. He stated that he has always desired to be a Television winner. He has never defeated the winner.
Wheeler Yuta is in his second reign as Pure Champion, having won the championship at Final Battle. He began talking about NJPW’s LA Dojo, where Katsuyori Shibata is the trainer, after defeating Timothy Thatcher in episode two. Clark Connors, a Dojo alumnus, then challenged him. Yuta summoned the guy himself, Shibata, after defeating “The Wild Rhino.”
“The Wrestler” made a surprise comeback to wrestling in 2021 after a five-year hiatus due to a subdural hematoma. Last November, he made his AEW start against Orange Cassidy.
Shibata is very picky about when and against whom he wrestles. It’s a huge deal for him to agree to wrestle Yuta, and he must see something in him. It would be incredible for ROH to have Shibata as a champion and fight for them on a regular basis.

Athena nominated Yuka Sakazaki for Supercard of Honor a few weeks back. Emi Sakura pulled Athena down by her hair on AEW Dark Elevation. This set up a fight for Thursday’s ROH episode. The ROH Women’s Championship will be defended by the victor of that match at Supercard of Honor.
It is unknown who they will face and whether Yuka Sakazaki will be able to return from Japan for the contest.
Eddie Kingston left AEW the night before ROH’s “new era” started. The next night, he faced his former foe for the ROH World Championship. Castagnoli has avoided him because he believes he is unworthy of the moniker “The Mad King.”
He eventually agreed to play Kingston last week. But not after aggressively slamming him during a sit-down with Caprice Coleman.
If Kingston does not win gold now, particularly in this match against someone he has held a grudge against for 15 years.
